I bought two turtles--a Cumberland Slider, and a Peacock Slider, both were babies and a little bit bigger than a quarter. My Peacock Slider, Athena, arrived and seemed very sluggish. I read some reviews saying that their turtles were sluggish until they got used to the tank, so I didn't think much about it. It never got better, all she did was bask, never getting in the water for more than a minute or so. Keep in mind, I have a big enough tank, an out of tank basking area, heat lamps, and UVB lamps. I feed them regularly, with the nutrients and vitamins they need. Their diet is balanced for the breeds. I have 3 turtles total, 5 if Athena and Zeus had lived. All are fine except the two I got from My Turtle Store. Zeus, the Cumberland Slider, didn't eat for a couple weeks, but he only ate once or twice, then stopped again. Athena never ate for almost a month. Neither of their eyes were open, and I later learned from a pet store that if their eyes aren't open, it means they are swollen and the turtles themselves are unhealthy and sick. I emailed My Turtle Store, and all I got was what felt like an automated email telling me to do what I already had tried to do. Zeus finally started to eat after awhile, but he went back to his sick-ish ways. He kept drying himself out, or just floating in the water, or on his back. I had to keep putting him upright. It was very odd. I slowly tried nursing him back to health as best as I could. I used turtle eye drops to get his eyes to open (which they did after a week or so) but since he refused to eat since he was so sick, he developed soft shell syndrome...I'm very sad and upset over this. None of this would have happened if he had arrived to me healthy. He ended up passing away shortly after. Athena, sadly, didn't make it more than a month. She never once ate, and I emailed the store letting them know she died and what I could do, like how it could have been prevented... but I never got a reply. I was very disappointed in the store, and their customer service. I think I'm going to stick with the Exotic Pet store here so I know it will have been properly bred, and I can get the help I need if anything goes wrong. So far, they've done more than My Turtle Store. They've been very helpful, have all the food and supplies I need, plus offer support for my turtles. My aunt has gotten two turtles from this store, both are fine...so really, when you order, it's taking a risky chance. Its up to you what you decide to do.
